GOODBYE CAMP GREEN LAKE(ANALYSIS)
Well, finally I’ve finished the book. Louis Sachar made an
impressive job. In my opinion what he did best is making the connections
between the characters. The events which Elya,Stanley’s
great-great-grandfather, lived through effected the next fourth generation. The
people’s lifes can cross in different times and places. What could be happen if
Elya didn’t come to the USA or Kate Barlow didn’t become a criminal. It is
fascinating how a decision or a move can change a lot people’s life. We can try
to find explanations, but I would like to call it “destiny”. I think the
writer’s first message is, people don’t know what they are gonna through but it
will be happen sooner or later, if it is written. We can’t just say those
events are coincidence. The life is full of coincidences, but this is destiny.
Second message is that people can’t avoid or escape their pasts. What happened
before us, what our family did, effect us. It follows us and we can always find
some signs from it. In the book, Stanley find some signs from his
great-great-grandfather’s and great-grandfather’s life. He met Zero the
great-great-great grandson of Madame Zeroni who was Elya’s friend. Then he
found a place(Big Thumb), where saved his great-grandfather’s life. The Warden
dedicated her entire life to finish the job which her grandparents started.
This is a great balance of the life and the writer edited it with a good
fiction.
